Ron - Welcome to the Deep Creek Lake area. We will continue to publish heritage/history stories about the lake and Garrett County on this blog in the future.

Obviously the area will continue to grow somewhat with new commercial develoment - new restaurants, retail shops, etc. But with the lack of much available and potential commerical real estate along the Route 219 corridor in the lake area I highly doubt the tranquility and peace of the DCL area will ever be highly disturbed. Plus, the current zoning ordinance will help keep commerical development down as well.

As a new owner/resident in the DCL area I eagerly devour any and all information about the history and development of the region.
However, I do prize the tanquility and pace of life and sincerely hope that all continuing development will help to preserve the semi-rural nature of the area. Here's hoping!
